Monte Casino Bird Sanctuary
On the north end of Johannesburg near Sandton, there is a bird sanctuary known as Montecasino Bird Park. We decided it would be an enjoyable place to visit on a Saturday. So taking advantage of the beautiful weather, we headed out to explore this area. Our first stop was lunch at the outdoor Flamingo Cafe overlooking all of the pink and white flamingos. Following lunch we watched their "Flight of Fantasy" bird show in their amphitheatre. Next we headed to their Frog and Reptile Room (wishing our grandchildren were along to enjoy it with us) and then on to their walk-through aviary which had 60 species of birds, reptiles and other small mammals from around the world.| The view from our table at the Flamingo Cafe. |

| A ring-tailed Lemur greeted us in the bird aviary. |
| The Lemur thought that camera on Elder Winn's hip might be interesting. |
| We were also greeted by a Red Ruffed Lemur as we entered the aviary. |
